While true the president as described in the constitution is "ceremonial", we all can agree that Musharraf was much more then "ceremonial" in his powers. I think the assemblies may well bring back their own version of the NRO once Musharraf is gone. Surely Zardari must have got Sharif's assurance for his support for such a move in case Musharraf scraps the NRO. Amongst a string of bad decisions over the last couple of years, the NRO must surely stand as one of Musharraf's worst. Bringing back the likes of Zardari in a desperate attempt to save himself set a terribly bad precedent. Too little, too late, I fear.
